Robin 2120

Robin R2120

The Robin R2120 is the primary trainer used by North Shore Aero Club. This is a very forgiving aircraft, which students find easy to fly.

The first Robin aircraft (to be made of metal rather than wood, fabric and composite), was produced in 1970, the HR 100. The R stood for Pierre Robin whilst the H stood for Christophe Heintz, the aircrafts co-designer.

The HR 100 was a four-seat tourer. This was shortly joined by the HR 200, a two-seat training variant. There are three main variants of the Robin R2000 series, the R2100, R2120 and the R2160 with the last three digits stand for the engine horsepower. The H had by this time been dropped as Robin was now the sole aircraft designer.

The specs below are for the R2120.

  • Engine: Lycoming O-235-L2A
  • Cylinders: 4
  • Brake Horsepower: 118 @ 2800 RPM
  • Propeller: 2 blade fixed pitch
  • Seats: 2
